Digital Nomad Services We Use a Lot
We have been working remotely since 2013.
Here are some of the services and apps that we use a lot.
Google Drive, Dropbox and iCloud
We keep all our files in a 200GB Google Drive, Dropbox, and a 2TB iCloud.
This ensures we can access everything from anywhere at any time.
Google Meet
We use Google Meet for video and audio calls because it’s simple and user-friendly.
The best part is you can join a Google Meet without a Google account if you’re invited to the meeting.
Slack
We use Slack for work communication. It’s a collaboration and messaging app that helps teams communicate and work efficiently. Slack offers features like channels for topic-based discussions, direct messaging, and integrations with productivity tools.
It’s available on both phones and computers.
Namecheap and A2 Hosting
Here are the web hosting providers we use:
- Namecheap – it offers affordable, reliable hosting services.
- A2 Hosting – another affordable and reliable provider that we’ve used frequently.
Brevo
Brevo is a reliable service for email marketing campaigns, and the free option might suffice for your needs.
Toggl Track
Since 2022, we’ve been using Toggl to track work hours and minutes.
The free plan suits our needs, and it might work for you as well.
Keysearch
We’ve been using this tool for keyword research since 2019.
It’s not free, with plans starting at $17 per month.
Answer the Public
This tool is excellent for marketing specialists to conduct keyword research and discover what people are searching for online. We use it to get inspiration on what to write about when it feels like everything in your niche has been covered.
Google Search Central (previously known as Webmasters)
A free tool shows how your website is found, helping identify growth opportunities. We’ve used it daily since 2017.
This Google platform aids website owners and SEO professionals in optimizing sites for search engines. It offers tools and resources to boost visibility in Google Search results, providing insights into how Google views your site, including search traffic data, indexing status, and potential issues.
Jasper and Chat GPT
We have been using Jasper and Chat GPT, two popular AI tools, since 2023.
Jasper is an AI assistant designed to help marketers with tasks like content creation, brainstorming, and research. It includes features like a blog post option, a rewrite function, a tone adjustment tool, and various templates for creating different types of content.
ChatGPT is an AI chat system designed for general conversations, answering questions, and assisting with various topics. The basic version is free. We frequently use ChatGPT as a helpful assistant, for example when learning how to set up new tools we’re experimenting with.
Grammarly
Grammarly is a digital writing assistant that helps users enhance their writing by offering instant feedback on grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style. It uses advanced AI to review text and recommend fixes and improvements, making it simpler for users to write clearly and effectively.
Videogen
Videogen is an AI-powered tool that lets users quickly and easily create and edit professional videos, making it perfect for content creators, marketers, educators, and others.
We use this tool since 2024.
Canva
Canva is an easy-to-use graphic design platform that lets you create various visual content, like social media images, presentations, and posters. It provides templates, images, and design tools, making it accessible for both beginners and experienced designers to create professional-quality designs effortlessly.
Lightroom
Lightroom is a simple photo editing app for both smartphones and laptops.
There is a free basic version for smartphones. However, to access features like AI and Adaptive presets, lens correction, or to use Lightroom on your computer, you’ll need the paid version. It’s worth it if you often edit photos.
NordVPN
We’ve been using it almost every day since January 2024.
It’s free with the Revolut Premium Plan. Do we like everything about it? Not quite. 😂 But it’s a decent VPN.
Destinations for Digital Nomads
Here’s a list of most cities we have been to.
We have rated all of these places according to how good or bad they fit as digital nomad destinations.
These are only our personal feelings about these places.
Best Cities for Digital Nomads
Here’s a list of our favorite cities for digital nomads.
For a city to make it on this list:
- It must be great for long stay (1+ month). That means there are enough of things to do and places to visit. There are grocery stores and / or great cafe culture. We both are foodies, so food matters to us.
- It must feel good to be there. True, it’s very subjective, but that’s why it’s our list – a list of our favorite cities for digital nomads and remote workers. See our “about us” to learn more about what kind of people we are and what we like to have in destinations we visit.
- There must be enough of things to do. A bonus point if it’s outdoors / hiking trails / beach. Having lots of great and cute cafes, like in Luang Prabang, Laos, counts as well.
Cities are sorted in no particular order.
1. Naha, Okinawa, Japan
2. Tokyo, Japan
3. Fukuoka, Japan
4. Hualien, Taiwan
5. Taipei, Taiwan
6. Seoul, South Korea

11. “Bali”, Indonesia
We have visited Bali several times, spending a total of around 1 year on the island.
We have never stayed in Canggu, a town where majority of digital nomads stay in Bali. But we loved Ubud and during the pandemic (when there were hardly any tourists) also Kuta.
